This essay was published in 2012.

We did this photo shoot on a windy blustery day in January. We shot poolside intentionally. The model was wearing a long coat, flung open to receive the gift the the smoldering hot Florida sun, despite the chilly wind. The purpose of this shoot was that here in Florida we expect to be poolside year round and wanted to swim. That gave us the idea for the shadows and reflections in the pool. The lighting was perfect for it. I love shooting black and white on windy days. The light and shadow was literally bouncing around. The wind was so brutal  and quite unexpectedly gusty that we could see the grains of sand in the air flying by . This why I shot in grainy black and white. The air was literally grainy. Most of the exposures were like F8 1/1500 sec. ISO 1600. The shadows fell like translucent stained glass designs on textures which shown through the shadowy geometrics of the light.
