Photojournalism
Not always photographically precise. Yes I challenge myself to shoot birds that are way too far away for the camera's ability. It's still fun to try to get the shot. Capturing moments, expressions, moods, artistically and creatively to exhibit the essence of the bird, demonstrating their fabulous spectacles. The thing about my bird photography is I didn't take these at a nature preserve or at the zoo. This is back porch photography. This is the view out of my desk window. They are mostly random passersby and wild, though every season some are regulars , in my backyard or near the lagoon where we shop and eat. Most of the bird photos on my website were taken a while back , chasing them with a big telephoto lens at more than 1200 mm and probably weren't as steady as they could have been and maybe I wasn't the most skilled at chasing birds at that distance. Finding them was the hard part. Listening for a new sound. Going on the advice of a friend to a location. Well I got the shots because it was fun just to get the capture. Some of my most favorites are bird silhouettes. I love the funny little black silhouette shapes like paper cut outs all sitting on a line and all the different little conversations and body language they use is so cool. Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy watching these birds and taking photos of them. ...more birds on my Facebook
